Meeting Minutes

January 27, 2007  11:00 a.m.

Loyalsock Little League Meeting Room, Williamsport, PA

State Coordinator Glen Fiebig called the meeting to order.  Roll call was taken by sign in sheet.  Districts represented were 1, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 23, 24, 25, 27, 29 and 30.

Motion to approve meeting minutes of October 28, 2006 was made by District 30. Second by District 12.  Motion passed.

Motion to approve finance report dated January 27, 2007 was made by District 9.  Second by District 29.  Motion passed.

Section Coordinators were announced as follows:  Section 1 – Glen Fiebig, Section 2 – Robert Swope, Section 3 – Scott Leinbach, Section 4 – George Bachman, Section 5 – Mike Serino, Section 6 – Randy Raab, Section 7 – Jim Stonaha, Section 8 – Duke Nasino.

The PVUA Constitution and By-Laws were brought back to the floor.  District 11 brought up the fact that the State DA document for the creation of the PVUA states that the PVUA finances are to be handled by the State DA Association and that the PVUA is under the supervision of the State DA Association.  The proposed PVUA Constitution and By-Laws would make the organization independent and manage their own finances working only in a collaborative manner with the State DA Association.  Approval of the proposed Constitution and By-Laws would go against the State DA Association policy.  Barry Wright, member of the PVUA Tournament Committee, spoke on behalf of the PVUA requesting approval of control of their finances.  Moved by District 17 to table the issue until the next meeting.  Second by District 11.  Motion passed.

Glen presented a tournament schedule calendar for the 2007 tournament season.  He then declared a recess for lunch and informal discussion of the calendar.

Upon resumption District 1 moved to amend the association policy requiring state tournaments to be double elimination format to also allow for Little League approved Pool Play format.  Second by District 17.  Motion passed.

Motion to approve the tournament schedule calendar was made by District 9.  Second by District 25.  Motion passed.  Glen reminded all that the approved tournament dates are to be followed by leagues hosting tournaments.

Motion by District 18 to approve the State Tournament Rotation Schedule for 2007 through 2010.  Second by District 9.  Motion passed.

Glen speaking on behalf of Eastern Region Coordinator Don Soucy stated they are working on the creation of District 6 by splitting District 14 and combining with leagues from other surrounding districts.  He also stated that the pitch count will undoubtedly be the biggest issue facing district administrators this year.

Discussion for the good of the order:

Motion by District 13 to adjourn.  Seconded by District 9.  Meeting adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,

Bill Dithrich
